Investment thesis

At the intersection of
change and enduring value.

The Ooventive perspective

Technology changes what is possible. Our job as an investor is to understand where that possibility can become a useful product, a resilient business, and a well-considered capital relationship.

01 / THE CENTRAL IDEA

The opportunity is bigger
than the technology.

We are interested in the businesses that make new capabilities practical: connecting intelligence to workflows, data to decisions, and innovation to the needs of an industry.

A large market or an impressive product can start a conversation. Conviction requires more: a specific customer, evidence of a need, an approach that can earn adoption, and an explanation of how the business becomes stronger over time.

Three connected layers

From enabling technology
to economic value.

01 / Foundations

Make the next layer possible.

Data quality, dependable infrastructure, developer tooling, security, and the systems on which applications rely.

Can the product become a trusted dependency?
02 / Applications

Make a difficult task easier.

AI-enabled workflows, industry software, and tools that create measurable improvements in everyday work.

Does the customer have a clear reason to adopt and stay?
03 / Industry change

Make a better model viable.

New ways to deliver services, organize operations, or reach customers in emerging and established markets.

Does the business understand the realities of its industry?

What we look beneath

The claim.
The evidence behind it.

These are discussion prompts, not fixed eligibility criteria. The evidence available will depend on the business and its stage.

A common claimWhat we want to understandUseful evidence
“Customers need this.”Who owns the problem, who pays, and what happens without a solution?Customer conversations, buying behavior, usage, and the existing alternative.
“Our technology is different.”Which difference matters to a customer, and how difficult is it to reproduce?Workflow comparisons, product evaluation, implementation requirements, and relevant expertise.
“The business can scale.”What grows with revenue, and what becomes more efficient?Delivery costs, support effort, acquisition channels, retention, and capacity constraints.
“This capital will accelerate us.”Which milestone changes the quality of the business or reduces an important uncertainty?A prioritized operating plan, the use of funds, and the evidence expected at the next milestone.

A consistent discipline

Open to possibility.
Attentive to trade-offs.

Our focus areas direct our attention. They do not replace judgment. An AI company can have limited differentiation; a business in an established industry can have a powerful insight.

We examine what could prevent the company from succeeding as carefully as what could make it valuable. Customer concentration, reliance on a platform, delivery complexity, and access to distribution may each change the investment case.

Direct investments are considered through Ooventive’s own capital perspective. Managed-capital opportunities must also fit the relevant mandate, constraints, and decision-making responsibilities.

Testing the investment case

What would change
our understanding?

A thesis is useful when it can be examined. We want to understand what supports the case today and what new evidence would cause it to be reconsidered.

The questions below bring uncertainty into the discussion. They help connect the potential of a business with the conditions required for that potential to become real.

01

When interest does not become adoption

If customers like the idea but do not implement it, investigate the gap. The obstacle may be urgency, budget ownership, integration effort, pricing, or a mismatch between the stated problem and everyday work.

02

When delivery does not become repeatable

If every deployment needs extensive custom work, examine whether the business is building a scalable product, a specialist service, or a combination of both. The economics and capital needs may differ.

03

When the advantage depends on one external change

A platform update, distribution partner, or source of data can alter the opportunity. We ask what the business would retain if that dependency changed and which alternatives are realistic.

04

When the capital plan loses its purpose

If spending cannot be connected to a meaningful milestone, revisit the plan. A clearer priority can be more useful than a larger budget built around assumptions that have not been examined.

Founders. Investors. New possibilities.

The next chapter
starts with a conversation.
